This is one of my FAVORITE books for this year’s Book Fair - simply because it is hilarious, hilarious, hilarious! I love it!
If you have kiddos who ask every five minutes, on those long road trips - “are we there yet???” then this one will be a family favorite. You can’t help but love our impatient friend on his journey to becoming a butterfly - no matter how impatient he is, he is impossible not to relate to nor laugh out loud at!

Another tale that will bring a laugh - poor old Bear would rather sleep all day than work on his farm, and Fox knows just the kind of help he needs - a donkey!
And according to Fox… donkeys come from eggs….eggs that look remarkably like, well, a watermelon.
This tale of love and dedication and most delightfully - friendship, is full of interesting bits and pieces that will having you poring over pages together, both grown up & child equally entertained.

Little Robot Z finds a message signed off “Love, Beatrice” and wonders - what on earth does “love” mean?
His investigation into this troublesome “love” leads him on a path to discovery - one that in the end shows him love really is always there even when you don't realize it's looking you straight in the eye.
A magical & heartfelt message you can enjoy sharing with your kids.

I ADORE this book and recommend it as a staple for every home and classroom. It is so simple yet powerful in its messaging that I can read it over and over & still get goosebumps.
Reynolds takes the message to Say Something; to be the voice, not just the echo, in whatever form that may take... & he makes it accessible to all of us in his latest book.
Say Something offers so many opportunities for discussion and reflection and reminds us all that kindness & humanity is within us all - that together we are stronger but that as a starting point, it truly comes from each & every one of us as an individual.

Most of us by now know that graphic Novels are the latest and greatest for most kids and if you read my previous blog post, you'll know that as a Librarian, I am on board with anything that gets kids reading.
So long as the messaging is positive, I feel like Graphic Novels, at our school level, are a great way to boost confidence and help kids transition into higher level reading.
To spread the love even further, Scholastic has created Graphic Novels that are even more accessible to our emerging readers through their Acorn books. Currently Crabby, Yeti & Unicorn have their own stories to tell that offer the perfect stepping stone toward the Branches reading books and higher chapter books beyond that.
I love that these books make reading fun and accessible to our littlest emerging readers and recommend taking a peek if you swing by the Book Fair this year.

Book Fair - what is it?!
If you're new to Reed or new to the Book Fair, you may not know what an awesome event this is! For a whole week, we have a plethora of books provided for purchase but Scholastic, so many so, that we move in the MPR for that entire week!
What's involved?
- From Monday March 25 - Thursday March 28 a HUGE range of books are on sale in our MPR as a school fundraiser.
- Wednesday March 27th is the big night however - FAMILY NIGHT!!! This is everyone's favorite night of the year. From 4pm-7pm, you can come on down to Reed for face-painting, music, pizza, hot dogs & cookies available for purchase.
- All For Books!!! What is All For Books you might ask! This is our special fundraiser, thanks to the support of Scholastic. Every additional dollar we raise in donations, is matched in the value of books by Scholastic, for an organization of our choosing. This year, we are raising money for the Butte County schools to help in replacing the many books lost in the 2018 fires.
- For our 2nd Grade students - thanks to their "senior status", the privilege of purchasing books in their lunch time is on offer - we now have an eWallet offered through Scholastic where money can be loaded onto an account by a parent to be spent at school. That way you can choose the amount spent and any money that goes unused is not deducted.
