All around the world, December represents a special time of year & so I thought I would share with you one of my favorite books, one that encapsulates what this time of year means to me: family, friends, cozy nights home with hot chocolate & warm lights to celebrate the season.
Light the Lights by Margaret Moorman portrays exactly all these special times & feelings, as it tells the story of Emma & her family. In the dark afternoons of winter, they share in the lighting of the menorah, watching it burn each night, while tucked up warm inside. Family arrive to share delicious Hanukkah gelt, latkes & games of dreidel. Almost immediately afterward, Emma & her parents also hand pick the "perfect" Christmas tree. Friends are invited to share in sugar cookies & tree trimming & once again, the warm light of the tree brings everyone together. This book is a beautiful tale bringing together different traditions & reminding us that this season is about ceebrating not only shared beliefs, but the people we love & what bring us together. May you all enjoy a wonderful holiday season, keep safe & create special memories with those you love.
